The Food Standards and Safety Authority of India (FSSAI) is the supreme authority which is responsible for regulating and supervising the food safety. As per Section 31(1) & 31(2) of FSS Act, 2006, Food safety Registration is mandatory for anyone who intends to do food business. Here we discuss about FSSAI Central License. The food business operator (FBO) having annual turnover above 20 Cr can apply for FSSAI central license. The central registration is done for food business operators like Importers, Manufacturers, hotels having 5-star rating or more, 100% export-oriented units, operators in central government, Railways, airports, seaports, restaurants, suppliers, distributors, retailers, producers/processors of vegetable oil with a turnover of more than 20 crores annually, food vendors, clubs, canteens, proprietary food sellers having turnover exceeding 20 Cr are need to take a Central FSSAI license from Food Standards and Safety Authority of India. 

    The FSSAI Central License is issued by the Central Government. A food business operating in more than one state with an annual turnover that exceeds 20 crores must obtain a central license. Usually, the time taken for the FSSAI Central License ranges from 10-15 Working Days, after submission of the required documents and information with government fee to the concerned Authority. The registration is issued for a validity of 01 year to 05 years, so the food operator must apply for renewal 120 days prior to the expiry of the current license.
